Many old lanterns were made like this with a pierced tin top to let in air and keep out wind. Like our other styles this is copied closely from an original. The smaller panes of glass date it to the 18th century when glass was scarce and mica sheets or panes of cow horn might have been used instead. It is equip with a metal candle pan and a leather strap handle. 11 tall.  The leather handle will vary in color from light brown to black.  If you are partial to one. please leave a note or call. and if we have it. we will send  the requested color.
